Kluender- Welcome, New Second Semester Students!

Welcome to the second semester!

On our first block, we went over the course syllabus and important class info.

We discussed the course fee & suggested materials, grading practices, electronic device usage, and class expectations.

The signed syllabus, fee, and materials are due by A day- Monday, Feb. 13, B day- Tuesday, Feb. 14

What are we doing now?

Art 7/8:
Today, Art 7/8 students began their daily journals and we brainstormed different careers an artist may have. We also began our first art project.  We discussed John J. Audubon, a French-American orinthologist and painter. We talked about his art career, not only as a painter, but his contribution to the scientific community for documenting the birds of North America. Students began to sketch out birds using reference photos. Next block, we will break the birds up using contour lines and shapes and add foliage to balance out the positive and negative space.

Computer Art 7/8:
Today, CA 7/8 students began their daily journals and we brainstormed ideas for our power word. A power word is a word that holds special meaning, makes and impact, or represents something about you. After choosing a personal power word, students used a variety of fonts to create their power word in bubble letters on a triangle template that will be used to create a kaleidoscope. Next block, we will be tracing our template onto our paper and learning how to flip and trace to make the kaleidoscope design.

Stay tuned for examples of work in progress next week.....
