Kluender- Art 7/8

Art 7/8 students are working hard at their gridded self-portraits!
We learned how to use a grid as a drawing tool. This helps students draw their features in proportion and helps them capture their likeness.

Students are using various shading tools to add VALUE to their artwork. No, not value as in how much it's worth, but value as in shading! Adding those blacks, greys, and whites help give our portraits dimension.

Many students are discovering hair is a difficult part of the process, but they are doing great!

After they are finished shading, students will find color swatches from magazines. They will create a magazine mosaic background. This will give the final piece some color to accent those awesome shading skills!

Kluender- Art 8

Art 8 is moving along with their clay projects! Their portrait busts are really beginning to take on personalities. Student will be building on this idea later, as part of the project will be creating a narrative to accompany their sculpture.

I can't wait to see what interesting, creative, thoughtful stories they come up with! I've already been hearing some ideas being shared in class! I love to hear students excited about their work and enthusiastic about generating new ideas!

Stay tuned...

Kluender- Computer Art 7/8

All Art students work at a different pace. Some students need more time to complete assignments while others are finished early. So, what do students work on "in between" projects?

Students have a "Semester Project" that lives in their cubby to work on. Some students will end up with only one, while some may have many. Computer Art students are beginning their semester projects...an Artsy Alphabet!

Students will divide their paper and assign each box a letter of the alphabet. Then they think of a THEME. (foods, animals, sports, Star Wars, etc)

Each letter has to fit the theme and look like the shape of the letter, but does not have to start with the letter. This is harder than it looks! Students are really coming up with creative concepts to create their FONTS.

See if you can guess the themes that these students are working on below:
