Art 8 just finished up a charcoal unit. We have been learning about creating VALUE in many different materials this year. We have also been focusing on improving our OBSERVATIONAL DRAWING SKILL in preparation for high school.
Art 8 students drew from life on three different occasions in class using black and white charcoal on different papers.
Then, students were asked to complete one of the three drawings for a final grade. They got to personalize their artwork and be more creative by adding other materials.
Students could choose to add tempera, acrylic, or watercolor paint. Some chose to add newspaper or magazine mosaic to the background. Some students simply chose to complete their artworks in charcoal.
I think the variety is wonderful!
