Kluender- Art 7/8- B2

B2 is working hard to get their birds turned in by the end of class Monday, Oct. 3.

Once students are done, they are asked to complete a "critique sheet" to turn in with their projects. This helps them to self-assess what worked and what could've been improved on. It also helps them to understand how I assessed their projects when they get their grade back.

We're using mod-podge to seal the artwork. It also gives it a nice finished look.

.
We also discussed parts 2 & 3 of our Digital Photo Kaleidoscope project today. Students are always very excited when it's their turn to get on the computer to work!
Can't wait to see how their artwork  comes together! :)

Kluender- Computer Art 7/8

Computer Art students are beginning to finish up their Power Word Kaleidoscopes!

Next week, we will talk about how to turn in work for me to grade. Students will complete a CRITIQUE SHEET to turn in with their work. This sheet helps them to reflect on their work and self-assess. It also helps to see how they got that numerical grade on their project- They can see how may points they earned for each objective so they know what they did well at and what they need to improve on.

We have one more block rotation to complete Part 1 of our digital kaleidoscope project and then on to parts 2 and 3! Students are very excited to take their altered 5x4 inch photo and create a digital photo kaleidoscope with them. Here are some of the images that will be used to create the kaleidoscopes:

Eek! Just look at these Art 8 students drawings coming together! I am beyond excited to witness their effort in drawing from observation and creating value with the drawing pencils. It's not easy...and they may be a little annoyed with me for making them go back and add more shading....and then even more shading....but, WOW, it's worth every pencil stroke!

We had a little watercolor exploration and practice this week to help students feel more comfortable with the watercolors. We learned how to "drop in" color to a waterery wash, how to keep lines neat, and how to blow, drip  and splatter the paint in a controlled fashion.

I also wanted them to start thinking about their options when adding watercolor to their pencil drawings...will they add color around the drawing? Will they make the drawing appear to be "draining" color out of it? Will they overlap two or more techniques? How much white will remain on the paper? Will they add drips or splatters? What colors will they use? So may artistic choices to make!
