We will be hosting an art exhibition for our 8th grade artists! Students will be involved in curating their own panels for the show. We will hold an opening reception Thursday, June 8 from 5:30-7pm. The artwork will remain on display for 8th grader day on Friday June 9th. Please stop by to check out all of our very talented 8th grade artists!

Kluender- Art 7/8

Here are some finished examples of our Art 7/8 self portrait drawings. Students learned how to draw using the grid method and used pencil shading techniques to add value. Students then used magazines to create a mixed media mosaic background.

Kluender- Computer Art 7/8

Computer Art students are finishing up their micrography projects. Students used Photoshop to crop and alter an image of a person they admired. They used quotes and/or lyrics by this person to make up the image using sharpies.

Kluender- Art 7/8

Art 7/8 students are working on two projects for the end of the year. Students have been working on a ceramic selfie project. Their clay project has been fired in the kiln and we are in the process of adding colored glazes. Once students have completed glazing their pieces, I will fire them once again. Opening the kiln is one of my favorite parts about being an art teacher...It's so exciting to see the final result of their hard work!

Once students are done with their glazing, they are continuing to work on a crushed can drawing that they began previously. We learned how to mix and blend Prismacolor colored pencils. We learned about Hue, Shade, and Tint and how to use them to create value (shading) and depth in their artwork.
Stay tuned for finished examples.

Kluender- Art 8

Art 8 classes are working on two projects before the end of the year. They are continuing to add color by painting their ceramics portrait bust. These sculptures will be accompanied by a narrative written by the students. I can't wait to see the finished pieces and read all about it!

Art 8 students are also working on an artist inspired self portrait. Students researched an artist and are incorporating aspects of that artist's work into their self portrait. I will post examples as they are turned in.
