Kluender- Computer Art 7/8

A4 is still working on their Power Word Kaleidoscopes. We were just introduced to Part 2 of the Digital Photo Kaleidoscopes and are rotating students through the computer for that project as well.

Kluender: Art 7/8, A3

Art 7/8 students are finishing up their Audubon Inspired Birds!
They are due by end of class Monday, March 6th.
Soooo.... What do students work on if they are done with one project, but we haven't moved on to the next project yet?

Some students have begun working on their "Semester Project". This large project will live in their cubbies and they will work on them in between other projects. That way, any time in Art class is used to create artwork!

Students had to find an image of a person they admire. We projected it onto the board, where they traced the outline onto 18x24" black paper. Then, they are using oil pastels to recreate the portrait as closely as possible.

These students have a nice start on this project.

Their inspiration photos ranged from athletes, actors, musicians, and even you-tubers.

Kluender Computer Art

Students are beginning to turn in their DIGITAL PHOTO KALEIDOSCOPES!

Students created a 4x5 inch "starting block" using a photo they found on Google images. They edited the photo using Adobe Photoshop Elements 14 to make it interesting, being sure to have something touch all four sides of the frame.

Then, they used Photoshop to duplicate the layers and flip the images to create a unique photo kaleidoscope.

Once done, we printed out two and attached them to create an even bigger kaleidoscope!

See the progression of four students below:

Reading Olympians!

Mrs. Bradley and I are super excited to share that our Reading Olympians team, The Novel Narwhals, has advanced to the county competition! Coaching a Reading Olympians team is one of the many things we do in addition to teaching Art here at Stonewall :)

Kluender- B4 Art 8

Art 8 students spent the block drawing from life and using charcoal.

We drew bottles, fruits and vegetables and used lighting to be able to easily identify highlights and shadows.

They did a great job!

We're also beginning a digital kaleidoscope project using Adobe Photoshop.

Kluender- A4 Computer Art 7/8

Computer Art 7/8 is working on their Power Word Kaleidoscopes! A power word is a word that has personal meaning.

We talked about using Analagous and Monochromatic colors to add shading into our artwork.

Kluender- Art 7/8

Art 7/8 students learned about artist and orinthologist, John J. Audubon. We are working on patterned bird drawings.

We created hand dyed paper that we will be layering our drawings on.

I sent a letter home regarding the use of x-acto blades in class. Parents and students have the option to opt out of using this art tool. I have small scissors to use.
